Give and Grow: James 4:10, Humbleness, Imagination, and Gratitude

Bible Verse

“Humble yourselves in the sight of the Lord, and he shall lift you up.” – James 4:10, KJV

Reflecting on this verse makes me think about it’s opposite meaning. Building up the ego to feel important is a dangerous game. It’s important to have a healthy self-image but an arrogance of superiority is destructive. I’ve found that properly placing yourself in acknowledgment of God’s greatness is the best way to keep your self-image upright. Then He will give the promotion and increase.

Book Quote

“You’re mind’s images are the blueprint from which your world is built.” – David Cameron Gikandi, A Happy Pocket Full of Money

Our lives, up until this point, have been created by the images we’ve held in our minds. Albert Einstein said that our imaginations are our greatest creative force. Are you using yours for creation or deletion? Positive or negative? When a clear, detailed image is held in your mind with faith, the world will formulate your image into reality.

Reflection Question

What does it feel like to be thankful and grateful for something you care deeply about?

Starting each morning with gratitude sets the tone for the whole day. When we reflect on that which we have and are thankful for, we receive more to be thankful for. Gratitude is a multiplier but it’s also a magnet. If you’re magnet is weak you’ll be attracting less and less. Make the conscious decision daily to build your gratitude muscle and your magnet will increase in strength.
